About YUNG YiDiSH
Founded in 1993 by Mendy Cahan, YUNG YiDiSH (Registered Non-Profit 58-021-411-2) is dedicated to preserving and transmitting Yiddish culture while encouraging contemporary Yiddish creativity in all its forms. Our members and friends consider Yiddish a living language — an essential ingredient of our cultural heritage to be fostered by looking both back and forward.
What began as a grassroots mission to rescue abandoned Yiddish books quickly grew into a vibrant hub of cultural activism, stage production, exhibitions, concerts, readings, and artistic experimentation.
Over the years, YUNG YiDiSH has collaborated with Tel Aviv University, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, UCLA, Vilnius University, Yad Ben Zvi, ANU – Museum of the Jewish People, and Beth Shalom Aleichem.
