A powerful presentation, introducing the lullabies that were composed during the holocaust
in Vilna, Lodz, Kovno & Warsaw ghettoes and songs written about the massacres at Ponar and at Babi Yar
as well as lullabies from defferent nations, languages and hard times
The lullabies will be sung by Hanna Yaffe and Mendy Cahan throughout the evening.
The lecture gives an overview of lullabies touching on psychological, cultural, historical and musical aspects.
The innocence of babies, contrasting with the horrors of war also makes this a poignant subject.
Music can be used to lull babies to sleep, it can also be used to send young men to war.
